Lockdown Cafe - Improving Cyber Security through Effective Business Continuity

After a fantastic response to our Lockdown Cafes during the last three months, we're delighted to announce their return!

In partnership with the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), we're hosting a free, public event on the 11th of September, 2020. This virtual coffee session will focus on Improving Cyber Security through Business Continuity and features an action-packed agenda with some of Scotland's leading authorities on good practice in the cyber resilience space.

10:00 – 10:05 Welcome – Scottish Continuity Chair

10:05 – 10:10 Keith McDevitt, Cyber Integrator at Scottish Government Cyber Resilience Unit and Alison Stone, Cyber Resilience co-ordinator at Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations will introduce the event.

10:10 – 11:00 Dave Stubley, Founder and CEO of 7 Elements, Best Boutique Cyber Security Consultancy 2017 UK and Jordan M. Schroeder, CISO at HEFESTIS. Jordan oversees security and resilience strategies for most of the Higher Education/Further Education (HE/FE) organisations in Scotland.

Dave and Jordan will discuss the dynamics of an cyberattack including -

  • What does an attack look like (using real life examples)
  • The likelihood of an attack and how to detect malicious actors
  • What the impacts are on the business, the teams and the processes
  • What can Business Continuity professionals do to help prepare for a cyber incident
  • Looking at the aftermath – supply chain, controls and actions to mitigate
  • Overview of the relevance of cyber insurance and things to note when looking at insurance cover
